Extractions
A tooth extraction is the removal of a tooth from its socket in the bone. There are many reasons for a tooth extraction:
Too much damage to the tooth to be repaired
To allow more room for braces
Sometimes baby teeth don’t fall out on their own
If wisdom teeth are causing pain or impacted
If you are experiencing any of these issues, a tooth extraction may your best option. There are two types of extractions, simple and surgical.
A simple extraction is performed on a tooth that can be seen in the mouth. Dr. Cannon first injects a local anesthetic to numb the area, loosens and then removes the tooth.
A surgical extraction is a more complex procedure and is used if a tooth may have broken off at the gum line or has not come into the mouth yet. After a local anesthetic a small incision is made in your gum, and the tooth is removed.
